Hello Dogtown

Vaccines, COVID-19, and youth with Kate and Chelsea

Episode Summary

Epidemiologists Kate Leifheitand Chelsea Shover from UCLA shared important results from their new study which focused on data in LA County comparing mortality rates among the unhoused and housed populations for COVID-19. They found that people experiencing homelessness are at 50% more risk of passing away from COVID-19 than the housed population. We also discussed the issue around disproportionate resources in hospitals across LA depending on the level of privilege one has, which highlights the stacked disparities that people experiencing homelessness face.
